Special Note:  We are going out of business. Our time spent serving as a community of volunteers to bring awareness, action, and lasting change to combat against human trafficking and exploitation has added richness and value to the community, thanks to the large number of volunteers who served in diverse methods. Our remaining resources are being distributed to regional charities who conduct operations to address the impact of human trafficking.  We'd like to leave a parting thank you to everyone who supported this effort, and we look forward to seeing the service of abolition continue to advance! To make a report of a suspected human trafficking situation, please see the "Make a Report" page. To make a giving statement inquiry, please email info@go61.org.

                                                                        Removing Fences
A fence is a barrier to freedom. Victims of human trafficking and exploitation experience all kinds of "fences." Sometimes, victims experience physical barriers to freedom because they are still physically captive and are under terror management and control. Other times, fences take the form of deep-seated effects of trauma. Barriers to freedom also include lack of identification, job skills, education, life skills, a support network, safe housing, and medical care. The vast majority of women exiting a life of slavery, a life of being bought and sold as a commodity, have experienced their first victimization as a child, and they never found intervention and healing. Much later, as a teen or adult, when they are struggling to begin a new life, tearing down fences is a priority so freedom can become a reality. It takes time, support, resources, faithful under-girding in prayer, and a community that roots for them.
